I disappointed to see a girl from "Camden comprehensive" interviewed about work opportunities. She had taken a "management starter" job with Morrisons. Firstly, Camden School is rarely described as comprehensive, although it now is, and was not in any sense, representative of Camden School for Girls.
Camden SG has "disappeared". We would know that the girls who were unlikely to go to University [in the 1960s] because they didnt do Latin, might be set for the Institutes in London -fashion and dress, Librarianship, or even Lucy Clayton. If you weren't going to Oxbridge then maybe one of the "new" Universities founded in the 1960s.were difficult to get to, Sussex in particular.
Another point, if you were "doing" Domestic Science as an A Level you were permitted, is that the word, to go into the Hotel Management trade. Trade, oh dear. We girls were being educated to enter the professions.
I assume the girls entering Morrisons had some knowledge of the A Level in Domestic Science.

Revive Camden School for Girls on the Web

If you browse the web for Camden School for Girls you will find nothing about the years 1888 or there abouts, and the suceeding decades up to 1970. You will see the "gateway" to Inner London intranet for children and their parents at the local area schools.
You might find advice about entering the famous Sixth Form and its equally famous children [actors, performers etc] but nothing about the past, and past pupils who have achieved academic and public service recognition.
There is nothing to remind people of the special character of the Grant Maintained Grammar School for Girls now it is "merely" a mixed comprehensive.
There should be a collation of Picasa Google web albums. There are two now, reachable through Google Image. There are subreferences in histories of womens' education, North London Collegiate and the Suffragetes.
With this blog I want to encourage past school members to post their web albums and tell this blog about them so they can be seen and linked here.
[1] get yourself a Google Mail account
[2] download Picasa for PC or Mac
[3] upload your pictures to a web album in Picasa [sorry not flkr]
[4] notify this blog
You might like Friends reUnited about Camden but this blog is different. Historic and public.
